Encouraging one another, all the more
If you have not read my bio yet, then you probably don’t know much about me. That’s okay, but what you do need to know for this post is that I am a 23-year-old woman working with teenage refugee boys at Bethany Christian Services. I’d like to share with you what I have learned about humility, serving, and more specifically humbly serving the undeserving.
When was the last time you celebrated what God was doing in and around you? I mean really, really celebrated. Paused and prayed. Sang a song. Told a friend. Wrote it down. Whatever stopping to celebrate looks like for you – when was it? Have you ever stopped to celebrate?
About 9 months ago, I began reading a book with a friend of mine called, Knowing God by J.I. Packer. I honestly did not think much of it. I sort of yanked it off the shelf because the title and packaging caught my eye and before I knew it, my life began to change.
The alarm clock goes off and after hitting the snooze button 5 times, I know the time has come when I must face the world. I rush into the shower, scramble to pack the lunch I should’ve put together the night before, sit down to spend a quick moment with God while my hair dries, panic when I realize
“What? You too? I thought I was the only one!” That’s the basis of friendship.
