Every Breath We Take

What if I told you
that substance you’re breathing
is not…. air?
Oxygen? No.
That which you breathe in
is much heavier.
Be wary though,
It’s thicker than fire smoke.
And it’s a wonder you can take it in so easy.
What if I told you that substance you’re breathing is tangible?
Let me show you.
If all of the salty blue in the oceans
was poured into spray cans,
And if all the rainbows were lassoed and wrangled
into paint bottles,
and every tree on the planet became a paintbrush.
Then, if every human being chose a utensil
to blanket the expanse of the black night sky with color
All of human kind would never be able to write
all of the love of God above.
It just wouldn’t fit.
Even if we used the stars as commas
and the planets as periods. We just couldn’t write it all.
If tomorrow the planets and stars fall
from the strings suspending them,
spinning them down to the dangerous abyss below,
the only glow in the sky
would be from the heavens on high
where God’s heart beats with more intensity and passion
than you could ever imagine
for the you he created to live everlasting
with your lungs expanding and contracting
with love.

God’s love.
What if I told you
that substance you’re breathing
is not air?
